Bioclimatic Pergola: what is it and what advantages does it offer?

What is a bioclimatic pergola?

Technically speaking, a bioclimatic pergola is an innovative, motorised structure composed of aluminium slats that can be adjusted by remote control. The rotation of the slats allows to regulate the entrance of sun rays, wind or even rain, thanks to its particular motorisation system.

The total closure of the slats creates a waterproof barrier that prevents the entry of water in rainy circumstances; moreover, this water is channelled to the sides, thanks to a drainage system that guarantees total coverage.

Unlike pergolas with fixed slats, bioclimatic pergolas allow their inclination to be modified according to solar radiation or wind direction.

The adjustment of the louvres allows for the regulation of the sun's rays, together with the air flow, which guarantees a cool and shady climate at will. This air mobility is reflected in potential energy savings in air conditioning and heating systems.

The Siwah Pergola has the ability to regulate the microclimate inside. The adjustable louvres allow the position to be adjusted according to the needs of each climatic condition.

At 0° you get maximum protection and sealing against wind, rain and solar radiation.

Between 45º or 135º we facilitate the flow of air and regulate the passage of light according to what we need.

And with 90°, Siwah allows free passage of sunlight. In addition, this inclination can be used after a snowfall to prevent the accumulation of snowflakes or hail.

Advantages of a bioclimatic pergola.

The first and clearest advantage is the creation of an outdoor space that is fully compatible with any time of the year. Thanks to its slat mobility system, it provides the space with natural ventilation, regulating the microclimate inside. This air circulation helps to reduce energy consumption when heating or cooling the space.

Another feature that differentiates a bioclimatic pergola from the rest on the market is the possibility of moving and adjusting the slats remotely via remote control. The Sahara Siwah includes a proprietary software system called Sahara App Control, which allows the product to be managed remotely via any Apple iOS or Android device.

Last but not least, the installation of a bioclimatic pergola does not require any permit or certificate, as its structure is considered temporary and therefore removable.
